Donna Meehan

 
Donna is a Proud Aboriginal Gamilaroi Woman. Born in Coonamble and a member of the Stolen Generations. Donna is a well known Indigenous author who is a committed Christian and whose focus is being a peacemaker. Her vision is “To be a Peacemaker and be a bridge between Aboriginal and non - Aboriginal people”. Donna is passionate about advocating for Stolen Generations, Reconciliation and Social Justice.

Donna is a dynamic individual who has several Tertiary Qualifications and has a wealth of knowledge, insight and experience working for Government and Non- Government organisations and Networking with diverse communities. Donna's heart for her people  and understanding of working with Aboriginal communities has kept her in demand for speaking engagements for over twenty five years. Donna is a valued and respected State and National Keynote Conference Speaker.

Donna is also an accomplished author, having been published five times and was a much respected Indigenous Broadcaster for over seven years. Recently Donna was featured on the  ABC “ The Making of Modern Australia”. She has been interviewed by ABC Radio National, 3 KND Melbourne, and interviews with the National Library and “Kanyini Stories from the Stolen Generations” are available online.

Donna has established “ Wings” a Support Group for Aboriginal Women in Bereavement, “Girl Power” a Support Group for Young Aboriginal Woman and establishing “ Elisabeth’s Well” a charitable organisation to Mentor Aboriginal Woman and providing cultural and spiritual Retreats. She has met many broken hearted courageous people dealing with grief, who live in the valley. Her volunteer work entails Kairos Outside a Prison Ministry for Woman who have a loved one incarcerated and for Kairos Torch who visit incarcerated Youth at the Frank Baxter Centre, Kariong.

Donna's presentations are powerful, educational, motivational and inspirational. She quotes “ I would rather sit in the valley with the broken than sit in the city sifting fools gold”.  Book Donna now for your next conference!
